Asus ROG GL551J: Power on, no boot, no display

Hello,

I’m repairing an Asus ROG Laptop model GL551J. It came in for Power on, no display, no boot. So far I’ve replaced the LCD, LCD Flex, and the motherboard itself. Still the same issue. I tried powering on without RAM and it does not beep or anything. Also has the same symptoms with the HDD removed. I have the stock power supply it came with. Does anyone have an idea on what I should try next?

Thank you

Asus ROG GL551J: Why is my computer turning off?

Hello,

So when I push the power button located on the top right, the light goes on (button), all the indicators lights below the trackpad are turning on however after 1 second, the whole computer shuts down. During those one second, my hard drive is making one very light click sound, only one. I tried to open it and blow air to clean up the computer of all the dust. It did work for about a week but then the same situation came up again. Now even if I clean up the inside, it is the same.

Thank you in advance.

Asus ROG GL551J: How can I find out what is upgradable?

I know that RAM, optical drive, and HDD are upgradable. How can I tell if anything else is upgradable as well? Will it be a worthwhile venture to max out the RAM (to have 32GB, I have 16 currently), and swap out the existing GeForce GTX 860M for whatever the beefiest Nvidia the platform can handle? Will doing this add significant amount of gaming performance?

Asus ROG GL551J: Can a cmos battery cause my laptop not to turn on?

As of recently my laptop won't turn on and I've been looking for things that could be the cause of the problem.

The laptop is an Asus Rog GL551J and what happened is i left my laptop on hibernate because i was gonna leave for a couple of hours. When it came to turn on my laptop i was faced with a black screen every time i pressed the power button, the power led and other lights turned on but the laptop wouldn't boot up, just a black screen.

I tried to remove the ac and the battery and hold the power button for 30 seconds and reconnect but nothing happened. So i searched and saw that in a nother forum question someone else had the same issue and the answer was to remove the cmos battery and do a hard reset. Can anyone plz help I'm so confused?!

Asus ROG GL551J: [ASUS] Headphone jack and speakers no longer functioning

Hi!

Very recently, my laptop's audio has ceased to work. The speakers show up as working in the system tray on the task bar, in device manager, the audio drivers (Realtek) show up as enabled and well, but when sound is being played, nothing comes out of the speakers.

Another issue is that the headphone jack also does not work. When I plug in headphones to listen to music, etc. no sound is played, but in my other laptop, the sound comes out just fine from the headphones, which clearly are not damaged or defective. Again, all drivers show up as working, despite the fact the port does not work.

The computer works perfectly fine, other than this and the sound problem from the speakers.

What would be an effective fix that I can do, and if I don't get a solution, I will send my computer to the manufacturer for a fix, but I really do not want to do that as last time, they took an entire MONTH just to fix a broken screen last time, and I don't like having other people go through my computer, especially with sensitive and important work-related files and personal documents.

Thanks!
