Asus Q551L Repair: Where is the 2nd RAM slot?

From what I understand this laptop, Q551LN has a second ram slot. I am wondering where I can find it. When I open it there is a silver tin that has one but the other is no where in site. Any instructions on how to get to the second one would be great.

Asus Q551L Repair: Is This A Battery Connection Issue?

I recently just upgraded to an SSD and I followed a video that told me to unplug the battery as the first thing to do when starting. I did all of that and got the SSD in, however whenever I went back into the computer it was saying “No battery is detected” I thought maybe I just didn’t put it back on properly so I went back and wiggled it a alittle bit but still the same thing when I opened the computer. I took it off one more time and realized that there were small bits that look like they came off with the battery connector when I took it off the board. Would this cause my computer to not recognize my battery? For whatever reason it works fine while it’s plugged in but it will start to die (but not immediately) if I take it off. I would really appreciate anybodies help in trying to diagnose what I could do about this issue as I am not too tech savy lol. Thanks guys.

Asus Q551L Repair: Where can I find an RJ45 replacement connector for my ASUS Q551L

The Lan port,(RJ45) on my Q551LN Asus Laptop has been giving me problems. It is definitely a hardware issue. I have tried different cables with no success. If I force a toothpick into the connector to hold the cable, in just the perfect place it works until the slightest movement. I can connect wifi, but It is to slow for me. Ihave a usb 3.0 to ethernet that does work, but my usb port is even starting to get a little loose. Where can I order a new connector to solder on the Motherboard? Has anyone attempted this on the Q551LN yet? Is it difficult? I have soldering experience. Also does anyone know if the 4gig ram chip that is soldered to the motherboard can be replaced by an 8 gig chip? Are they pin for pin compatible? In years past I have even piggybacked chips, but I am guessing with the new high density chips this cannot be done, but is it possible to remove it and install an 8 or even 16 gig in it’s place?? Why these Manufacturers get stingy with ram when including them on computers, I have no idea but for the cost difference it should would make them a much more desirable purchase.

Asus Q551L Repair: Need help isolating problem , schematics?

First, I was given this notebook in this condition. There is no visible damage, every thing appears to be in great condition, no signs of abbuse in any way, shape or form.

Second, model is an exact match Q551L, but notebook is 17" screen, 1tb H.D. and 4g Ram.

Ok.... Every time the lid is opened it crashes. No matter what I try. If the lid is left down the unit functions great. Connect a monitor, keyboard, mouse and all is good. Raise the lid to the point of switching to on board screen and CRASH, everything is gone!

Try powering on with the lid open? Starts booting just to the point of graphics appear on the screen and it crashes. Upon inspection of hardware, all seems good. Almost seems as if the amount of power required to light the screen is overloading something. Also in order to boot it up again, I must first pull not only the main battery but the bios battery as well, Reconnect batteries and A/C adapter and it boots right up. Again open the lid just a tiny bit, slowly....keys backlight .....ok ...little more......screen lights up and CRASH !! Lights out !!!! All is gone. Sorry for the lengthy question, any ideas or a response at all would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time, and have a beautiful day.

Asus Q551L Repair: Screen hinge on left side not working

I dropped my computer and the hinge is not working right. I can close the laptop if I put enough force but the display does not line up correctly with the base of the computer. Also, I can put it in tablet mode, if I put enough force, but again the display does not line up correctly with the base. So I just keep the computer open. I have not opened it and the display and all other components still work but here are my questions:

Do I need to buy a new hinge?

Where can I find that sort of part?

What would be the best possible course of action?

Where can I find instructions on how to change the hinge?
