Asus G73: Charger, battery and overheating.

So I've got this old Asus ROG here, now I know that the battery needs to be replaced, as well, it was made in 2011!

When I plug it in, I gotta hold the charger at a certain angle, the angle changes each time, charging light will turn on, and then it turns on. After a few minutes though, it shuts off, after the first shut off, each period of getting it to work becomes shorter.

Example: First Session: 10 minutes. Second Session: 7 Minutes. Third Session: 4 Minutes. This resets after it hasn't been used for a couple hours.

Now I think I know why this is, the barrel jack of the charger and the charging port get very hot, quickly. Now, I've cleaned out the fans, but I still need to redo the 12 year old thermal paste that is probably non-existant at this point.

The keyboard is a mess, missing keys and all that.

I've since completely stripped the computer to give it the cleaning of it's life (12 years in a house with 2 cats and a dog and not a single cleaning!), it's currently still in pieces, but I can still plug the motherboard and screen in and get it to turn on and work.

Upon doing this, I discovered that one of the fans doesn't seem to want to work, unless perhaps, this is a feature.

Below you will find a video of me testing the fans, and discovering this very issue, I double checked all the connections too, 100% in place and connect, wires don't appear to be damaged either.

Asus G73: When I turn my laptop on it only shows white.

Okay so when I turn my laptop on I can hear everything starting to work then they are fully working but my screen will only show white. I found out it's the password page but I see white no matter what. I hooked up a external monitor, entered my password and I was in my laptop, I could only see it on my monitor. I can't do anything because all my applications open on my lap top cuz my thing is set to expand. I don't know what to do. It's been like this for a bit, I'm not a computer part genius so I don't know what lots of the parts are.

Asus G73: Need some help finding good replacement pieces.

Alright, I've got this old thing that was given to me by a family member to try and repair last time I saw them, unfortunately, said family member has since passed, making this computer, the last thing they gave me.

I want to repair it, I was already working on it and such, but now I feel even more determined to repair it.

I've figured out some problems already, my main issue is getting replacement parts from a good source, I don't want a battery that dies in 20 minutes for example. The problem is, this is something that was made over a decade ago, so kinda hard to find replacement parts.

So here I am, hoping that you guys with your wonderful knowledge may be able to help point me in the right direction at least.

The computer itself is a G73SW Model, the battery is long since dead, the charging port is dying, the charger's protective covering is cut, exposing the wires(dog and 2 cats in the house). Not to mention the keyboard, which is, well, let's just say it's in pieces. The touchpad may also need to be replaced.

All in all I need: Battery. Charger. Charger Port. Keyboard.

I may have managed to track down a charger and battery, but I want to make sure that CanadaLaptopBattery.com and LaptopParts.ca are actually good before I get anything.

Asus G73: G73sw blank no bios logo

Few days ago my laptop suddenly shut off, when I turned it back, it just goes blank, no bios logo. I already tried some solution like removing any hard drive, removing/switching ram, removing battery, connecting external monitor, holding power button for 30s/1m and so on, etc. But still no luck. I'm not sure what's the problem. Is it cause of a dead gpu?

I tried turning on while plugging my external rgb keyboard/mouse, and they didn't lights up. Does dead gpu also causing that? Or it could be something else? Thanks before

Asus G73: Asus G73JH Memory Specifications and Requirements

Three slots were accessible and empty when I tried to boot it up. The last slot (which needs near-complete disassembly of the laptop to access) had a 2GB chip.

The laptop failed to POST BIOS - I got steady LED lights and a battery light if a battery was present. Wasn't sure if this 2GB was defective.

Pop in two more matched 2GB chips (matched to each other but not necessarily the lone, inaccessible third 2GB chip) - laptop posts and recognizes all three 2GB chips, giving me 6GB.

Did I need to populate the accessible bank of RAM slots first before populating the "split bank" (one slot on the underside, one slot on the topside).

Is 32GB possible on this thing (4x8GB)?
