Asus Chromebook Flip C100P: Replacement screen assemblies for c100p the same as for c101p?

Replacement of the screen assembly (LCD+touchscreen glass) for the c100pa is a pretty simple procedure and is documented on YouTube and elsewhere (though, oddly, not here in iFixit). And, the c100pa screen assemblies - new and used - are readily available on eBay.

On the other hand, screen assemblies for the c101pa - an updated model that Asus issued a couple years later - are impossible to find. Does anyone know if they take the same 10.1 inch screen used by the earlier model? Maybe there are no screens for the c101p because it uses the same screen? I would sure like to hear from someone who knows before I take the plunge. Thanks!

Asus Chromebook Flip C100P: Why does my computer shut off randomly when lower than half battery?

My computer is constantly shutting off whenever the battery hits below around 50-30%, and often it wont turn back on until I plug it in. I sent it into ASUS to be repaired, and for a while it worked fine, but now it's back to doing it again. Power washes don't fix it, ASUS's repair job doesn't seem to fix it, how do I get my computer to function again?

Asus Chromebook Flip C100P: Cracked screen making it hard to use.

I have a pretty big crack in my screen....no dead pixels, but it's making the touch screen go crazy. I can hardly use the chromebook even in laptop mode because the screen will flicker and open random things as if someone is going crazy on the touchscreen.

I looked into ordering the screen repair kit but found it was almost as expensive as a new chromebook. So my question is, is there a way I can just disable the touchscreen function? I don't mind only using it in laptop mode.

Thank you

Asus Chromebook Flip C100P: ASUS Chromebook C100p What should I do if I dislocated my left hinge?

I’ve only had my ASUS C100p for eight months and I have already damaged it. Everytime I open or close the chromebook, the hinge makes a cracking sound. Since I can flip the chromebook, when I bend it over like a tablet, the hinge becomes exposed and the monitor screen partially comes off. For some reason I haven’t noticed until it made the sounds. I’m just wondering if I should try self-repairs or going to a repairman.

Asus Chromebook Flip C100P: ASUS C100P Touchsceen has Stopped Responding, What Do?

Alright, so long and short: my touch screen has stopped responding—in any area of the screen—overnight. My first instinct was to pop open the screen and see if I can determine which wires/ribbons are loose and tighten them up—one was, but touch sensitivity wasn’t restored after I put it back into place; on a second look it seems to have lead to the camera. I did do a reboot after I replaced the end, just in case, but no dice—but I can’t even seem to determine which part of the screen’s internals even control the touch screen, and anything else that could potentially come loose is taped down (I’ve only removed the case, I haven’t unhooked anything else or flipped up the glass portion of the screen; that’s a little out of my comfort zone), which has lead my troubleshooting efforts directly into a brick wall.

Of course, there’s slightly more to that story: a week or so ago my left hinge snapped. The internal silver wing (inside the screen case) was in two pieces, which had forced the screen case open and spat the left-hand screw at me (I removed the other one to prevent it from breaking further and had a peak inside the screen case; immediately determined it was something I couldn’t fix/jerry rig with what I had on hand, and had to resort to buying a set of replacement hinges off eBay for ~$17). When I replaced the hinges—which was done at home—and reassembled the computer everything seemed to have been working fine, the touch screen responded—though I’d run the battery down because the damned thing would not stay off while I was trying to crack it open, so it’s not the best test I could have done—and I set it aside to charge over night. Well, the next morning the damned touch screen wasn’t working anymore.

So, there’s the full depth of my problem—the only history I haven’t gone into is that I bought it refurbished off Amazon; hence the tape inside the screen, I bet—and I’d appreciate any insight (even if it’s just calling me an idiot for running the battery down instead of finding a better way to go about keeping the computer off.). I’m starting to suspect one of my wires got pinched during reassembly and charging the computer caused a short (I don’t smell a short, but I don’t exactly have the best sense of smell) and I’m going to have to resign myself to finding a mouse (which will hopefully let me do some of the touch-only functions I can’t seem to get to work on the touchpad) until I can replace my Chromebook.

Thanks!

Asus Chromebook Flip C100P: Replacing liquid-damaged USB-C port on C101PA

I got a small amount of liquid in one of the USB-C ports on my ASUS C101PA, and it looks like it corroded the pins enough to turn the port into a port of death: two cables and a charger seem to be dead now after trying to use them to charge the device. Unfortunately the second port, which got no liquid, is also not accepting a charge. So at this point my chromebook can’t be charged.

A visual inspection of the motherboard shows no obvious signs of damage, so I’m hoping it’s just the port(s) that are fried. Does anybody know the part number and where I might go about acquiring replacement USB-C ports for the C101PA? I’m comfortable doing the hot-air rework.
