Apple Wireless Keyboard: Batteries corroded & stuck inside Apple Wireless Keyboard (Aluminum)

The Apple Wireless Keyboard (Aluminum) uses three AA batteries. One of the AA batteries in my keyboard is stuck inside due to corrosion. I've managed to strip down most of the keyboard, but I'm stuck with the final C-clip that is deep inside and I haven't got any tool to undo the C-clip. Any advice will be appreciated. Thanks!

Apple Wireless Keyboard: How to remove rubber feet off keyboard (A1314)

Hi, I bought an Apple Wireless keyboard off ebay and it kind of wobbles when I hit keys on the lower left. It seems like the little rubber feet on the bottom (Near the space key). The right side one is just a little bit worn down which causes the wobble. Is there a way to take em off and replace em?

Apple Wireless Keyboard: Keyboard turns on but doesn't type (anything)

Hey guys!

So, I bought this A1314 keyboard off of the flea market. And I'm not sure whether this issue I'm having is hardware or software.

The problem is that the keyboard turns on, enters pairing mode, but I can't type anything on it. And, as far as I understood, you need to type the PIN code for BT pairing from the actual keyboard itself, which I can't since none of the keys work.

I tried the Caps Lock key and it doesn't light up. So...pretty sure it's a general issue. The question is: is this hardware or software? I couldn't find this issue online, so I decided to open a new topic for it, in case other people have the same issue.

Also, is there a way to reset it...? Under BT settings on my Mac, it still shows up with the previous owner's name on it. I tried long pressing the Power button, but....no success. It turns on, LED light starts blinking twice, which I'm guessing means it's in pairing, but...when trying to connect it to my Mac, it shows the PIN I should input, but looks like nothing happens when typing and pressing the Enter key.

The keys don't seem to be sticky or anything, so I don't think there has been water (or at least anything sugary) spelled on it. But yeah, right now, I can't type anything on it.

Any idea?

Update: this seems to be hardware after all.

Problem:

Big Sur UI highlights each keystroke so if one of the keys required for pairing don't work, you can easily see it. Too bad this hasn't been kept on newer versions of MacOS.

Apple Wireless Keyboard: The battery cap is corroded on. How can it be removed?

I picked up the apple wireless keyboard from a friend who wasn't using it. I went to put batteries in it and found out that it was stuck.

Then I:

Tried a basic flathead

Tapped around the head with a small hammer to see if it would unseal

Attempted a vice and nickel method--I now have a torqued nickel.

So far no direct access method has worked.

I also read the Batteries Corroded & stuck thread n here.. That allowed me to know there was a panel on the back. My KB is a little different, the panel is more in the middle. I opened it up and see there is a battery--so I'm nearly sure it's a corroded battery that has leaked onto the aluminum screw and caused all of this.

Anyone have ideas on how to solve this?

Apple Wireless Keyboard: 2009 Apple Wireless Keyboard|Connecting But Not Typing In Pairing Mode

I have a 2009 Wireless apple keyboard that won’t pair with anything, I have tried an iPhone running IOS 14.8, and iPad running iPadOS 14.8, an LG G5 and a Windows 10 Desktop, I have also searched online for a few hours to find a solution but no luck.

I got this keyboard used from a shop, it’s in decent shape but I don’t know where the original Mac that it was being used with is, however, the board still has a name from the previous owner/Mac.

The main issue is that once put into pairing mode the Green LED begins to flash like normal and it shows up under Bluetooth on all of the devices, but when I connect and try to type in the given code nothing happens, after about 1 minute both the idevices and Android phone say that there was no response from the broad and to try again later and my desktop just continues to try for as long as it likes or until the keyboard goes to sleep.

I have replaced the batteries and cleaned the board to make sure the keys were pressing down in the way they are suppose to, but still nothing.

Any help would be great.

Thanks

Apple Wireless Keyboard: Is there a liquid contact indicator (LCI) underneath the G key?

I recently bought a defective aluminum Apple Wireless Keyboard for experimentation.

Model A1314 with Dashboard key on F4

Some keys spread over the whole keyboard did not work.

I put it in the dishwasher (with soap and rinse aid at 45°C for 40 minutes) and rinsed it generously with isopropyl alcohol while it was still hot after the wash.

(right now it is still in the drying phase.... keep you updated how it worked....)

->update: The keyboard turns on and I can connect to it and type, but the non working keys still don't work.... no succes here.<-

Right now I discovered a red spot underneath the G cap and took it apart.

I did not look before the wash, so I cannot tell if it was like this before.

Is this thing you can see on the photo a LCI like Apple mentions?

http://imageshack.us/a/img842/5043/lcit....

http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3425

I could not find any other information that there are LCIs built into these keyboards. Maybe somebody else can check on a non defective/liquid spilled keyboard.

In my case the red dot can be spotted with the keycap on.

But you can take the caps of quite easily with lifting the caps up very carefully starting at the upper right or left corner. It comes loose with two or three clicks and is quite easy put back into place with clicking it back in in reverse order.

Apple Wireless Keyboard: Can I use the logic board with a keyboard from an old laptop?

Hi to everyone,

I know that my question might sound bizarre but i am trying to figure out if i can use the logic board of apple wireless keyboard with a keyboard from an old Sony Laptop. The reason is that in my apple keyboard not all keys work and although i used applications to remap them at the beginning now more keys have stopped working. The ribbon cable of the Sony keyboard fits in apple board and some keys do function but with strange results. For example i press key F on the diy keyboard and on the computer is pressed the tab key. Is there a solution or application or code i can use to reconfigure or reprogram the diy keyboard? Sorry for my English and my strange question.
