Apple iSight Webcam: What is the best program to use for surveillance?

Since I have about three of these I would like to use at least one to record when customers come into my home. I work out of my house and have times when those that entered were scary to me and I didn't know if I were about to be robbed. Also, this is a college town and I have a lot of young girls come to me for Macintosh service. My reputation is impeccable and I would like it to remain that way. What would be the best programs to use that wouldn't burn a lot of hard drive space? I'm not that concerned about resolution. I would like to be able to hit my keyboard for recording to start and stop.

Apple iSight Webcam: Can this be upgraded?

I recently found that I own this piece of equipment and its a fine piece that was crafted really well. I want to continue using it, but I do not want to be limited to the crappy resolution given by this camera. I wanted to know if it was possible to open this bad boy up and reconfigure it with better parts to increase its resolution and make it into a camera that fits up to modern day standards. If it is possible are there any guides out there to show me how and a buy list of products that work? Thanks for your time and consideration.

Apple iSight Webcam: For use in monitoring my front door

I'd like to mount an A1023 iSight Web Camera around my front door and hook it up to my MacPro in my office. I've read that the maximum length for a firewire cable is 10'. Since it will not be carrying a lot of data, I think I can use a much longer cable. Next part of the question concerns cost. Can I make a firewire cable? I've never cut into one. I know I have a box of old BNC cable around and certainly a box of Cat 5 cable. Could I cut a short cable and splice wire in? The iSight has a Firewire 400 and I can use an adapter to get into any of the four Firewire 800 ports on my Mac Pro. I already have an A1023 iSight camera set up for FaceTime.

Or is there a wi-fi device to hook up to the camera to send the signal wirelessly?

This would use a 6 pin to 9 pin connector.

Apple iSight Webcam: Audio problem using iSight on FaceTime

Just got in a vintage Apple iSight Webcam. Used my iTunes account for the account. Set my audio volume in System Preferences -> Input -> iSight. Input level appears fine. Mute is NOT checked. Output volume set to max. Initiated call to a iPhone 4 via address book. I initiated connection via my MacPro and I could see and hear him just fine. He could see me but not hear me. I had him call me and got computer ring and answered. Same result, I could see and hear him, he could only see me.

I tried the camera out using iMovie and the recording level was fine, so the camera and microphone work OK.

Apple Webcam: External iSight on MBP Early 2015 via Thunderbolt-Firewire adapter?

I want to connect external Apple iSight cammera to my MBP (early 2015) via Apple Thunderbolt-Firewire adapter. Has anyone successfully tried this?

I guess it’s supposed to work, but I’d like to check before buying the adapter. I read in some cases the adapter doesn’t recognise the camera.

Apple iSight Webcam: iSight not able to keep focus

Hello I have an iSight that I’d like to use again with my iMac G4, the problem with the camera is that it constantly tries to focus every couple of seconds but it is never able to, so the video is blurry… I’ve tried testing to see if anything at any focal distance is clear, but it seems the whole thing is blurred at any distance.

It still “works”, but would like to know if anyone has solved this problem.

Thanks in advance!
