Apple Watch Series 4: How difficult and expensive to repair the cracked glass screen

I have newly purchased an aluminum AW4, but when I took it off from my wrist it accidentally fell on the hard ground surface facing down, so the glass cover cracked (I didn’t expect it to be so fragile). Apple Store asks me $349 to replace it with a new one, which I think is to expensive (65% of the retail price!). Therefore, I’m begging help on the ifixit.com, hoping to get a guide and quote or just a general idea on how difficult and expensive it is to repair by myself. I am an engineer, and have experience replacing the home button of iPhone 4, so I’m pretty confident about handling small things. But I don’t have any experience in handling the water resistive seal or to use heater to melt the adhesive. It’s not hurry because I can wear it as is since the capacitive touching and Force Touch functionality are both working right now. And also maybe it will take a while until the 44mm replacement screen be available. Any suggestion would help, thanks!

Apple Watch Series 4: Power button is stuck

I have an apple watch series 4 that has the power button stuck pressed in. I had a protector cover on it that I never removed and it may have built up dirt and grime over time. I tried cleaning it around the edge of the button with a toothbrush and some water to no avail. When I connect the watch to the charger the apple icon comes on for a few seconds but then turns off due to the power button being stuck.

Apple Watch Series 4: Did a screen replacement and now I have no WiFi and very bad Bluetooth

So as the title says, I performed a screen replacement on my watch (S4 44mm) and it works but now my WiFi never shows any networks and the Bluetooth connection is extremely poor (watch will disconnect if I have phone in my pocket and watch on wrist on table, it’s that bad).

i was looking around inside and comparing with the tear down to see what I could have damaged or forgotten to put back, and the only thing I noticed that was missing was this:

Then I remembered that when removing the display, that little gold thing popped off and flew across the room so who knows where it is now. Anything I could use to replace it? Since I’m pretty sure that connects with a little metal tab on the screen to provide wireless functions

Apple Watch Series 4: Is there a way to replace the screen without sacrificing Apple Pay?

Per the item description for the replacement screens on this site’s store, there is a note at the bottom that says:

“When replacing the screen with a different part, it disables the NFC antenna, used for things like Apple Pay. There appears to be no easy fix for this right now. “

If I am reading this correctly, it means it is impossible to replace the Series 4 screen without loosing the functions of your NFC antenna. In other words, to replace a broken screen yourself you will trade one broken thing for another - which is obviously silly. I suppose there is a chance I am reading this incorrectly though - and my fingers are crossed that this is the case (especially after seeing the price of repair from the Apple Store).

Have any of you replaced the screen on a Series 4 and verified whether or not Apple Pay functionality is lost?

Apple Watch Series 4: Screen white after replacement

Hi everybody

I had to change the screen of my Apple Watch 4 44mm. For that, I bought a locked watch with a perfectly working screen. After switching the broken screen of my watch with the working one, the replaced screen is only white. I checked the cables and changed the Touch Force sensor as well. The screen is still white. Does anyone have any idea why?

Apple Watch Series 4: Unpairing Apple Watch during setup

Hi, I have had a series 4 GPS since about March 2020 It's been working fine, but about mid August , it stopped connecting to the internet. I thought maybe unpairing and repairing it would fix it. I unpaired it and factory reset it, and went through that process. Once I finished doing that and got to the pairing screen, and I started to pair it again. On restore from backup, it would say preparing, and then load for about 2-5 mins, before I got a screen saying something along the lines of "Unpairing Apple Watch, this could take a few minutes." Once I let that load through, I tried to start as a new watch, and once I picked my wrist preference, it would load for about 2-5 mins, and it would do the same unpairing thing. Anyone know a fix?

its out of warranty

Apple Watch Series 4: Removing a screen set with epoxy - tool advice needed

I know I screwed up big time, but here it goes.

Two years ago, I had to replace a screen on my S4. The replacement went fine. However, I did not have B7000 glue on hand. Feeling impatient, I used epoxy to set the screen. The repair held up fine; the problem is now I need to replace the battery.

Apple Watch Series 4: Battery not charging and gets warm

Hi question fire your regarding an apple watch screen change.

I changed mine, no problems. Seemed to work fine. But now the battery won't charge. Get the red snake when off charger, green snake when I'm charger but won't charge. Gets warm. Bought a new battery and nothing comes up as far as snake wise, the Apple logo popped up a couple times but never booted up. Gets warm then charger stopped charging, like it knows there will be Fagan's it something. It charges my wife's series three no issues. Just wondered if anyone ever came across this before and what the solution may be? I didn't think the battery would have an issue with a screen change.
