Apple Watch Series 2: Why won’t my watch pair after screen replacement?

I recently replaced my Apple Watch (series 2) broken screen with another genuine screen. My watch paired with my phone before but now it will not. I receive an error saying “pairing failed” when going through the setup. I’ve tried multiple phones and multiple accounts, reset the watch, reset the phone, tried to restore from a backup but still get the same error. The new screen looks good and seems to be working fine. Did I do something wrong?

Apple Watch Series 2: Digital Crown no longer works

My Apple Watch 2 started to act funny, it would launch siri and scroll between apps all by itself.

It was acting as if the digital crown was being pressed in and rotated.

I tried the usual cleaning methods as per the apple website but without any luck.

It does rotate freely and doesn't feel sticky at all, and although it does these things it is completely unresponsive.

I have to use the the side button to navigate my way round the watch the best I can.

Does anyone have any Ideas?

Apple Watch Series 2: Watch boot loops, gets hot when charging

Hi, so I bought an Apple Watch that was deemed broken. The person I bought it from, told me that Apple told them it needed a new battery and that it would cost her 200 to repair it since it was out of warranty. The watch will get hot when it is charging, and eventually will show an Apple Logo, then shuts back off. Do you think it’s really a battery issue? Would it be worth the time to buy and put in a new battery, or do you think it’s an unfixable issue? What leads me to believe it really is a battery issue, is how long it takes for the watch to actually start the boot loop. Leaving me to believe that the battery isn’t supplying sufficient power to the watch.

Update (01/07/2020)

So actually, turns out it does the same thing after a battery replacement. I have no idea what could be wrong.

Apple Watch Series 2: Apple Watch Series 3 screen replacement

Hello people from ifixit,

I need to know if the complete screen from Apple Watch Series 3 is the same as Series 2 and can be replace one for the other or need to remove some flex or IC from one to put in the other. Some people tell me that need to change the NFC IC.

Thank you

Update (10/30/2017)

Hello Dan, and thank you for you're quickly answer.

Really what I need is a technical opinion and not about warranty coverage because I have many Series 2 from many customers with crack screens that need to be replaced.

But no one has big quantity of Series 2 complete screen on the market to buy. For this reason I posted the question. My supplier in China who I did buy many Series 1 complete screens (hyper-trustable) tell me that the LCD & Touchscreen module is compatible.

But, need to replace a flat ribbon cable with some component that are glued on the back side of this module, they call it the NFC IC but I don't know really if is trueIy inclusive in the Series 3 teardown description the IFIXIT team wrote this info: "Spec-wise, the display is unchanged from the Series 2, with one key difference - it now functions as a multifrequency (LTE?) antenna. We'll be testing compatibility to see if the displays really are interchangeable."

Based in this info I believe that both are compatible.

Thanks

Apple Watch Series 2: 12 watches died at work, why?

This actually spans multiple devices, Watch (Series 2 & 3), iPhone 7 & 8, Apple Pencil.

Starting back in a couple of years ago, I got an Apple Watch Series 2. I loved it, amazing product and great compliment to my iPhone 7 Plus. However... It died a few days after I had it, this happened at work.

Fast Forward. Apple had replaced the watch over 12 times. Yes, 12. After a couple of different stores worked with me, one store manager took everything back and gave me full credit plus a nice discount on an iPad Pro, I gave up on the watch.

I purchased a Pencil for my ipad and when I brought it into work, guess what. That failed. I exchanged the pencil and I leave it at home.

A friend got me a Series 3 as a Christmas gift. I wore it for not even a week. Guess what? Yep, it died after a couple of days at work. And now I have 2 coworkers who are also suffering from some issues. 1 had several watches fail and then her iPhone 7 Plus failed. All with the same behavior. Sudden loss of connection, time would move faster, eventually a complete failure to where the device (Watch or Phone) would not power back on.

I spoke with some friends of various degrees of tech knowledge, from A+ bench techs to Platform Engineers & Computer Science degrees. Plus some simple math says the common device among the three are the Bluetooth radios?

I work for a small electronic manufacturing company. We basically assemble components and various sensor products. Quite a bit of soldering. No massive equipment other than PC's, Multimeeters, a CryoStat in our lab next door, but no heavy magnets and there's more EMF interference from desk fans.

Apple Support hasn't been much help, other than constantly replacing the products.

Any ideas? Someone did mention they worked in a plant with lots of solder/flux equipment and it messed with bluetooth radios. We don't have a lot of BT devices, a few headsets maybe but nowhere near extreme levels. Does it sound logical that the BT radio inside Apple products would fire back so hard and break them this way?

I cracked the screen on my Apple Watch Series 2. Half of the screen worked fine, but the other side, separated by the crack, would not. I bought a replacement screen from iFixit. The replacing process was next to painless, but when everything was all put back together, the screen will not show anything. The watch will make noises and vibrate like it is on, but no display. I disassembled and reassembled and the results were the same. The old screen will no longer turn on either.
Apple Watch Series 2: Force touch sensor adhesive not sticking very well

Hello,

I have a AW series 2, replaced the cracked screen and the force touch sensor since it ripped when replacing screen.

Apple Watch Series 2: Fixing Digital Crown random clicks

Hey!

I bought used Apple Watch S2 (42mm), the guy said that there’s a problem with random Siri pop-ups. I thought the problem was with dirty Digital Crown, so I cleaned it (per Apple guide, with warm tap water). It helped for a while but the problem is still there. I get random/ghost DC clicks and presses that trigger Siri and open home screen. Rinsing DC under warm water seems to fix it for a few hours. There’s also a slight mark on DC as if the Watch was dropped onto something.

So, I want to fix this Watch. Replacing it via Apple is not an option since I got it for $50 and Apple asks for a whopping $500 to replace it. I just got another S2 42mm with a cracked screen to harvest all the parts I might need during repair process. I guess I’ll have to replace DC encoder cable, but I can’t find any guides (except for iFixit Teardown). My question is: what exactly do I need to replace to get rid of ghost clicks?
