Apple Watch Series 2: Speaker and Haptics not working

Hello! I replaced my Apple Watch Series 2 battery yesterday and that seems to be working great, however the speaker isn't working. I hadn't used the watch in about 2 years since the battery got really bad, but the sound was definitely working at that point. Could I have inadvertently broken something while replacing the battery?

Everything went smoothly, except right at the end when I was reconnecting the cables, they all connected great, but the middle one wouldn't 'close' properly and I ended up breaking the thin plastic bar at the top that closes it. The other two closed fine, and the middle one was still connected, just not closed. I hope that makes sense!

Everything else seems to work on the watch, it just doesn't make sounds or haptic thumps when I receive notifications. It also doesn't make any sound when I do the water lock, but does do haptics. When I try to adjust the volume in settings, it makes no sound either.

Apple Watch Series 2: Weird behavior of the replacement battery

I replaced the battery in my Apple Watch series 2 with one from iFixit. I'm getting a battery life that is all over the places, from 2 to 10 hours randomly. A typical scenario: I charged the watch overnight, but the battery level stuck at 17%. I rebooted the watch in the morning, and the battery life is now showing 66%. Left the watch on the charger, the battery level dropped to 49% after a while! :-( It further dropped to 18% afterwards. Rebooting the watch again while leaving it on the charger, the battery level is now 97%. Taking it off the charger, the battery level drops quickly, and less than an hour later it's at 1%. But it can last about an hour or so at 1%.

This is driving me nuts. I don't really know what battery life I'm going to get with a given charge. It's the second battery from iFixit now. Both have the similar issue. Has anyone seen such a problem? Anyone got a replacement battery working properly?

Thanks,

Joshua

Apple Watch Series 2: How to reinsert screen into holder

About a week ago the screen popped off my apple watch 2 because the battery was swollen, and after taking the watch apart following ifixits guide, I noticed that mine had come apart very different to those online.

On all the guides I've seen the screen has come off in one piece however I appear to have 2, the screen itself and the outer rim. I can't seem to find a way other than to glue them together and there does not appear to be any support structure to help align them and it has basically 0 tolerance. Is this a one of a kind case or is there some way to attach them together without trying to eyeball it?

Apple Watch Series 2: Apple Watch Series 2 won't charge, even after battery replaced

Bought it used a year or two ago.

It worked fine until a few months ago when it stopped charging.

I assumed that the battery had just gone bad.

Bought a new one, installed it, and it still won't charge.

So either the new battery is faulty or something else is wrong with the watch (either from age or from when I opened it up).

It is probably not possible to troubleshoot any further, or not cost-effective as the part that is probably bad would cost more to replace than the watch is worth.

Thoughts?

P.S. There is nothing on the display to indicate that the battery is charging. I also tried another charger to make sure that the charger was not the problem.

Hi, unfortunately while changing the battery of my watch, I destroyed the bridge of the adhesive (with copper underneath) between the middle “island” and the right “island”. It should be connected like the left “island”. Hope someone understands and sees what I mean. Please see my photo.

Now, with the new battery, I cannot start the watch. The Apple symbol pops up for a few seconds, but nothing happens. Is this destroyed bridge the reason?
