The microphone on my apple watch has stopped working.
When i try to record something and play it back , i can only hear a hissing noise.
audio output works fine, so i believe the issue is with the mic itself.

Since the warranty has expired, i was thinking about replacing it myself,

Apple Watch - Series 8: replacing digital crown wheel without opening apple watch

Hi,

is it possible to just replace the wheel of the digital crown unit without opening the watch? The external thread of the wheel (usually both attached) is still in de crown unit but the wheel itself came lose. What I would like to try is to remove the external thread and replace both the thread and the wheel with a new one. Is there any chance I might be able to do that without opening the watch?

Apple Watch - Series 8: Preserving WatchOS 9 with iOS 17?

I bought the new iPhone 15; still waiting on it due to a messy preorder (and cancellation since I could get the phone faster by reordering it) and now I am waiting on the delivery. I didn't need my watch, so I unpaired my S8 Watch from my iPhone 12 so I can just pair it to the new phone. The thing is since I kept my 12 at iOS 16, my watch is forever on WatchOS 9 until I have to update it to 10. I did run the security update that came out for both devices, but I'm not on iOS 17 yet with this 12 and didn't update it because of the concerns I have about major iOS upgrades on old phones until it's mature.

Is it possible to keep my Watch at WatchOS 9 even after pairing it to my new phone with iOS 17?

Apple Watch - Series 8: Why does the display not work after the new battery and replacement?

Why is it that after replacing the speaker and battery, the watch keeps restarting, but only when it is plugged in to the charger? Could it be that the battery is completely discharged? Or the touch screen does not detect the old battery when you put it back in. I checked the cable and the connection, they are in principle fine.

1. Are there any DIY methods to reinstall or recover watchOS on a Series 8 without an Apple developer dock or sending it in?

2. Could this still be a hardware fault (e.g., failing S8 SiP or NAND) despite the repair shop’s opinion?

Apple Watch - Series 8: Static on screen, but only when using ifixit battery

See photo. Any ideas?

ifixit Apple Watch (45 mm Series 8) Battery

Apple Watch Series 8 (GPS + Cellular) 45mm Aluminum Case with Midnight Sport Band - M/L - Midnight - Model MNVL3LL/A

The ifixit battery arrived quite low, 2.35V on my multimeter. Another arrived at 1.87V. I installed the 2.35V one according to instructions, but the device would not power on. I left it overnight to charge. It reached 4.30V. However, It will not boot when off the charger. When placed on the charger, the static screen pictured shows up. Holding the buttons for 10 seconds will turn it off, but not back on. It turns itself on, to that static screen, when placed on the charger. I followed the instructions again to put the original Apple battery in again. The device returned to working as normal. It boots and powers up fine when off the charger. So, it doesn't have the problem with the original battery, just the ifixit battery.

Any ideas? Thanks

Apple Watch - Series 8: Apple watch series 8 lasts only 5 hours

Here is a "brief" description of my issue.

I bought a series 8 45mil apple watch in May of this year. it stopped working properly on August 21st. The battery life went from lasting 18+ hours to under 6 overnight.

The battery life setting states it is 100% healthy

I troubleshooted it per apple's direction to no effect, reset to factory settings, both the phone and watch, unpair and repair etc..

I brought it into the Apple Store for support on 9/9. They, Apple genius bar, documented that it was not working properly and did the same troubleshooting in store and sent me home to see if it worked. Begrudgingly I did, It did not work.

I brought it back later the same day and Apple sent it to their repair depot. It returned 9/15 with them unable to diagnose the cause of the issue and recommend the same troubleshooting steps.

Those steps were done in store, again, and I was sent home to test. They did not work. I returned to the store and Apple documented it again and sent it out again.

On 9/23 I got it back from them with the same notes and steps to troubleshoot.... again... They did not work.

I called Apple support number and was connected to a "senior technician" that installed a "diagnostic package" onto my phone and watch and is now asking me to document and journal on my watch usage and email it to them to help them determine the issue.

I told them this is ridiculous. Am I getting compensated for my time running these diagnostics? They said " uh no."

I then just outright asked for my watch to be replaced. The associate said they can't replace it until they can determine the cause of the issue is not software related.

I said if it's software related then a reset to factory defaults would have solved the issue.

They then stated it could be my phone's hardware that was the issue.

I then paired the watch to my wife's phone, same issue.

I escalated to the "Highest Technician" and they stated without the diagnostics logs being made their engineers could not solve the software issue for me.

I said this is obviously a hardware issue, their diagnostics are not catching and it's not my responsibility to R&D apples code for them.

Now I am here with an apple watch under both their normal warranty and their apple care + warranty that they are refusing to fix unless I do a diagnostic for them.

Is there any way to prove this is a hardware issue and/or fix a this "Software bug"
