Apple LED Cinema Display 27": How to put the original Apple led stand back after removing Vesa?

I used my desk mount a while with my Apple Led Cinema + Vesa mount.

Problem is that after putting the foot back on, I cannot get it to go back upright. There is some kind of latch preventing the stand from going upright and the little plastic card that came with the VESA kit does nothing to release this latch.

Getting the foot off was easy but getting it back on is proving to be very difficult. Any tips on how to get the stand to release back to it's upright position?

Apple LED Cinema Display 27": Backlight make buzzing sound

My 18 months old 27" LED Cinema Display now makes a constant buzzing noise.

With backlight set to low, it's not too audible. Up the backlight to the max, and the buzzing is now very loud.

When I removed the front panel, to check which component make the buzzing, it appears to be behind the LCD panels. I didn't go further.

Where could I get the required parts?

Any ideas?

Apple LED Cinema Display 27": Display flickers briefly then goes black after connecting mini dp

The display was working one night just fine until we restarted the machine. When the machine booted up, the display remained black.

I tested it on a macbook that is working with another cinema display, but nothing happened. I opened up the broken display and reattached the cable connecting to the function port on the logic board. After trying it again, it would flicker and I would see my desktop for a split second before the screen goes black.

The display is detected, is able to charge my laptop, and the rear USB ports are also working. The display will flash and show my desktop every time I reconnect the mini dp.

Apple LED Cinema Display 27": Backlight LCD turns off + Buzzin Noise

Hi there,

my Apple Cinema Display 27" (no more warranty) got some problems with its backlight and I'm not quite sure whether its the logic board or the power supply..

It works for a few minutes, but than it randomly turns down the backlight of the LCD. There is still a picture, that can be seen e.g. at direct sunlight. So the LCD itself should work fine!

I can speed up this more or less random process by in- or decreasing the brightness.

If i disconnect the display from power and reconnect it, it works again for some minutes. Then, same procedure...

There is also a buzzing noise coming from "inside" which gets louder the brighter the LCD is but doesn't really stop when the backlight turned down again.

For me this buzzing noise sounds like a damaged transformer or some other power supply problems... but I'm not sure...

What I'm sure is, that these two problems have the same source and hopefully will have the same solution.

I already tried the things listed in the Apple Technician Guide and the ones on the internet...

What do you think? I thought I'll ask you for some advice befor ordering some parts like new power supply or new logicboard..

Thank you! :-)

Apple LED Cinema Display 27": turns off after a half hour and must be disconnected and reconnected

I thinking about buying this non functioning apple cinema display and fixing it my self, This is what the seller says in the description "Works perfectly EXCEPT it turns off after a half hour and must be disconnected and reconnected. This is a known failure that according to blog forums is due to the posterior cable that needs to be replaced. A repair shop quoted me $400 to replace it but a handy person could probably do it themselves. " Do you think this is fixable, and you really think that its the all in one cable? I would like an expert opinion before I consider trying to fix this.

Apple LED Cinema Display 27": Faint pixel thick vertical lines on Apple Cinema Display 27"

I bought old used a1316 Apple Cinema 27” Display to connect to my 15” MacBookPro (Early 2013) and just use both at home mostly for browsing and movies.

Today I noticed faint pixel thick lines about inch from each other all over the screen. Clearly visible on dark backgrounds when MacOS is in DarkMode, but almost impossible to see if screen is completely black or white.

Screen on macbook is fine. I played with different resolutions, reset PRAM, rebooted machine, tried different thunderbolt connectors…

So far, if I’m far enough from the screen it’s not bothering me much. But just wanted to know is this is something I need to worry about? Can the condition of the screen deteriorate?

I made a photo of the screen, not sure how visible issue will be:

Apple LED Cinema Display 27": there is image from my MBPro but no backlight.

I have same symptoms with my 27 cinema display. Confirmed there is image from my MBPro but no backlight. Has been intermittent for the past year or so and had to unplug and replug a few times whenever I disconnected my MBPro for travel to get it working again. But over past two weeks haven't gotten it to light up. Took to Apple Store where they replaced the logic board which solved this issue for them but when testing it before leaving the store we could never get it to come back on again... they didn't know about the image being visible from MBPro as I just discovered this now.

From your advice, I will now test the DC voltage to the backlight. But are you saying that if it is getting proper voltage the only fix left is the entire LCD panel and the backlight can't be replaced independently?

Thanks for the great step by step troubleshooting advice!
