Amana Washing Machine NTW4516FW: Amana NTW4516FW Washer does not advance to rinse cycle

The washer fills, agitates, and spins. Then it thinks it is done and shuts off. The washer needs to be set to a manual rinse cycle after washing. It also seems to have issues with auto sense. Water level seems deeper than necessary, so that washing small loads is not water efficient.

Amana Washing Machine: Amana Tandem 7300 Washer F6E1 Error - Not Spinning

Hi All,

I cleaned out the pump catch on my Tandem 7300 after it got the usual beep error due to a heavy load that wouldn't drain in time. Lots of junk removed. Power off machine for ten minutes. Plugged it in and the water drained and door opened.

Now - whenever I try to start a wash - or any cycle - the door locks and it sits for a while - no initial spin of the tub as before - and nothing happens until the beeping starts - code is an F6E1.

I found a Whirlpool service manual online ( see https://www.whirlpool.com/content/dam/gl... ) which was really helpful as it allowed me to run diagnostics. The lock, then water fill, then water drain cycles seem to work then beeping starts. Same error. I clear the error and repeated the diagnostics a few time - same results.

I took off the top and back of the machine - the tub belt is fine and the motor spins freely. The motor does nothing during the diagnostics - doesn't make any noise or try to spin.

I re-seated all cabled everywhere I could - to the motor, control panel, water valve switches on hot and cold lines and what looks like the water detector at the bottom of the tub enclosure - still I get the same error during diagnostics - and no cycles will start normally past the initial lock of the door.

Can anyone advise on what this might be? I can't find a service manual for the exact model and the user manual is intentionally vague - but the service manual for newer front-loaders I found suggests the problem is the HMI - Human-Machine Interface - which I think means the front panel?

Thanks for any and all assistance!

Mike

Update (04/06/25)

Hello - An update:

The service manual indicated that the problem was most likely the Motor Control Unit (MCU) so I ordered a replacement. The replacement came and I installed it - the problem still exists. The only difference is now I hear a click when the motor should run - after the normal door lock click (not the same click - this click comes from under the tub - either the MCU or the motor. But, the motor still doesn't spin.

So - any cycle that I run I get the same as before except I'm hearing an click after the door lock - then after a few minutes the beeps start with the F6E1 error again.

When I run diagnostics - all the cycles work up to the tub spin test - again, the same error.

Any suggestions here would be greatly appreciated.

Mike

Amana Washing Machine NTW4516FW: Lid lock will not unlock

The lid lock on my washer was broken and would not lock. I replaced it. When I lowered the lid while reassembling it locked and now will not unlock. I have been on YouTube and tried self test, diagnostic( no error shows) The light may be on or off but does not unlock? Any more ideas? I took it back apart once to confirm it was installed correctly. Manually unlocked it, but when I reassemble again the lid locks automatically as though it has to do with positioning??

Amana Washing Machine: Amana Tandem 7300 Water out pump keeps blowing

Hi there! I have a tandem 7300. The error code for the water drainage comes up (along with a tub full of water) every time I was a load and it never finishes the cycle. Even on drain and spin I manually drain it, start that option but when I come back the tub is filled with water??

So I bought a new pump, replaced it, and it worked for like 6 loads. It then smelt like an electrical fire and the pump burned out. I bought a new one and this worked for 2 loads. What could be the issue????

Amana Washing Machine: Metal pieces getting caught in Amana washing machine water pump.

Here is where I am. This is a new washing machine to me, came with a house purchase. Amana front loader Model No. NFW7200TW. Troubleshooting started with washer getting stuck on rinse cycle. I did some googling and found water pump was likely the issue so I pulled and cleaned the pump which was full of sediment about the size of gravel and a corroded piece of metal that was stuck in the pump about 1 1/2” x 1/2”. I figured I had fixed the problem and reassembled and ran washer again but the washer got stuck on rinse again. I figured I might have fried the pump by trying to run it too many times (it was pretty hot when I pulled it out the first time) so I ordered a new one. I went to replace the old pump and found another piece of metal almost identical to the first one stuck in the pump again. Is this metal coming from something else broken in my washer or just something left over in the drum from the previous owner? I want to go ahead and install the new pump because some of the blades on the old one look damaged from the metal pieces but I don’t want to throw it in and get more metal hunks caught in my fresh pump. Can someone help me troubleshoot this?
