Amana Refrigerator: My Amana refrigerator/freezer has stopped cooling!

about six weeks ago I noticed my fridge wasn't cooling like it should so I unplugged it, vacuumed the coils under the doors, and around the fan at the bottom rear. I waited a couple of days and plugged it up. By the next morning it seemed to be working fine and did so for a couple of weeks. Then it stopped cooling completely. I have checked the coils behind the panel in the back of the freezer as well as the fans and the compressor seems to be working ( I think I can hear a light humming noise...but the lines are neither hot or cold) Please help!!

Desperate!!

Frank

Here an update... I was checking the Overload/relay with star capacitor with my multimeter and it seems to be fine. So just for giggles I plugged it up again to see if the compressor was vibratingand it was. So I walk around and check the coils inside the freezer and the are cold?? I Don't understand what is happening!!

Amana Refrigerator: Amana Fridge Model ABB1924DEW won't cool?

I have an Amana Fridge Model ABB1924DEW with single door up top and a freezer drawer on bottom. My fridge will not cool, even on coolest temperature setting. Air flow vents on floor of fridge not blowing any cool air at all. I removed the rear door panel of fridge and cleaned all dust around compressor, cooling grates underneath fridge, etc. Fridge still not working. Noticed the fan was running ok within rear panel. The freezer is working fine though maintaining a good temperature.

Amana Refrigerator: fridge ok but freezer stops freezing food while still making ice

Hi,

I've been using this Amana side-by-side since 2004.

The fridge is working fine.

The freezer is still making ices.

The freezer's coldness, which remains at/above 40 degrees Fahrenheit (since 2 weeks ago), is obviously colder than fridge's but is not cold enough to freeze foods.

Today I removed all the foods in the freezer to open the inside back panels and removed the ice buildup that was right above the coils using a hairdryer.

But it remains about the same so far for the past 5 hours.

Could someone please advise what I could look into next? Or, is it about time to replace it with a new one?

Thank you very much in advance!

Amana Refrigerator: Why does Ice Maker take so long to make Ice Cubes

I recently replaced the water filter on my Amana refrigerator, now the water flows fine, but the ice cubes seem to take about 6 hours to dispense a new batch. Prior to changing the filter, they would freeze and dispense in about 2.5 hours. Now the cubes are larger, but it seems to take a long time to make a new batch of cubes.

Does anyone know, how the dispenser determines when to eject the cubes ? Is hat something that is adjustable ?

Amana Refrigerator: Why won’t my Amana fridge/freezer cool down?

I woke up today with my Amana freezer totally thawed and fridge and freezer both around 50 F.

A few were ago I was annoyed at the temp of my freezer so I changed a dial in the back to “Min” thinking that would make it as cold as possible. Apparently the dial is actually an air flow controller so I effectively dropped the freezer to minimal air flow, diverting it to the fridge.

Later that week some of my fridge items were frozen solid - like a full 2L carton of almond milk. I dropped the fridge temp from 3/5 to 2/5.

Fast forward to now. I’ve returned the settings to normal and am waiting but am now optimistic that it will be running normally after.

The coils in the back are not dusty. Obviously nothing is iced up since my whole freezer melted. Compressor in the back is hot to the touch but the coils running up the back are room temp.

Fridge was made in 2019 so it’s not set old. Any idea what it could be?

Amana Refrigerator ASD2522WR 0: Freezer intermittently melts ice then refreezes

My 12 year old Amana ASD2522WRB03 side by side freezer has an intermittent issue where the ice melts then freezes again into a “block”. This was happening every few months, but is now happening more often-every few days. I assume the defrost cycle is staying on too long or coming on too often. The coils under the unit are free of dust/debris, the compressor and fan both are running. The door seals are all tight. Inside the freezer, the evaporator fan runs, the evaporator is not frozen up, the heater seems to work when in the defrost cycle. A friend suggested the defrost timer, but my unit does not have this “mechanical” device. I replaced the electronic defrost control board, but it did not fix the issue. I was going to try the defrost bimetal, but could that be intermittently faulty or is it the type of component that would not work at all?
