I go to setting under messaging ,in advanced settings it has group messaging box ,I uncheck it ,and I go back hour or so later it's checked again?

I made the mistake of formatting my phone from my HP laptop and now it won't even turn on and when i plug it back into my computer, it will try to scan the phone but then it will stop. this continues to happen. It's as if the computer has deleted everything that the phone needed to run. Is there any way to fix this?
