Dyson AM07 Tower Fan: faulty fan now board dead

So i have just replaced the oscillating motor and the x2 cap to fix the side to side movement and stop it happening when it's off! the main fan motor was a bit noisy, so i decided to take the impeller off the motor and clean and lube the bearings...bad idea! the impeller ended up breaking the locating lugs off the bottom of it, and after all the messing around, when i turned it all back on, the motor was really unhappy, causing surges and then cutting out completely. tested the fan from a known good machine and it worked for half an hour continuously at 10 without any issue...

I managed to source a second hand unit from a dyson repair shop nearby, and it arrived today - plugged it in, the display came on, motor did nothing...seconds later the screen went dark and nothing worked since. i've since tested the motor, and it seems to have a short/very low resistance between the case and W1 phase wire - obviously it's sent 300v upstream and done some damage!

I've checked the fuse, all the 0ohm resistors i can find, and run through a load of testing with the help of AI to prove the buck regulator, the mosfets and the driver ICs all seem to be behaving as expected. however, after tracing U2 (5v regulator), it seems to have a direct short to ground on 2 pins. from what i can find, it appears pin 1 is output (apart from anywhere else, it supplied voltage to the screen), pin 2 gnd and ping 3 input - which appears to have a direct connection to the buck regulator IC output. thinking the 5v regulator had gone short, i pulled it.....and still have the short. then i removed cap c7 to make sure that wasn't shorting....it wasn't either.

Literally tearing my hair out now (shop said they wouldn't replace the damaged board, but have agreed a 50/50 split on a new board if i have to; but I would rather fix this.

Can anyone offer any advice? any common failures when the motors go short?

WINIX ZERO Compact: It has started making a rattling noise

I’ve had the Winix since 2021 I have it on all the time. It has started making a rattling noise I think it maybe needs a bit of WD40 lubricant in the moving parts. How to get into it is the problem ? Any ideas please ?

Machine goes on then off immediately after booting up, I've replaced the filter checked the cord plugged it into a new outlet pressed buttons no difference won't even turn on.p

Air Purifier: Looking for repair manual

My Holmes HAP702 air purifier just shut down after running almost non-stop for 5 years. I tried finding a repair shop near me, but the only non-cellphone electronics repair shop that I found was a vacuum cleaner repair shop that charges 50 USD at a minimum. A replacement air purifier that's compatible with my stock of air-filters costs a bit less than that after shipping and taxes.

I thought about fixing it myself, but the only manuals I could find for it are user manuals, which aren't much help when trying to fix a discontinued unit.

I read that if the fan is hard to turn, then the motor needs to be replace, but after taking it apart, I'm able to see that the fans still spin freely.

I was hoping that someone could point me a repair manual for this that might help me figure out the issue. I'm going to start poking around the insides two days from now. I would do it tonight, but I want to give the capacitors plenty of time to drain.

AlexaPure Breeze: Repair of Alexapure Breeze; fan Startup Fails

Alexapure Breeze on startup lights sequentially light up,

then back down, then off. Repeats with subsequent attempts.

Filters have been replaced. One Electrolytic capacitor replaced that had bubbled.

Tested and no change,

it Will not start the fan, just repeats light up and down sequence

and I had just purchased new filters for it thinking that was part of the problem.

Nope. I have not isolated the problem yet.

As the title states, my Dyson fan is displaying a solid “E” on the display and the power button is blinking red. I don’t have the remote (ordered one, waiting for it to arrive) but was wondering if anyone could help. I’ve tried Googling the issue and haven’t found anything helpful. I’m not afraid to disassemble and work on it (I like to tinker with electronics) but I’d like some pointers as to what the problem might be. Thanks!

The wire in my Ionic Breeze has broken. Does anyone know what these wires are made of ? It doesn’t feel metallic but it must carry a current, mustn’t it? It is one of the beaded wires (seems my GP 4.0 has two of these.). The material actually feels like fiberglass.

Dyson AM07 Tower Fan: Error H2 - fan goes onto high power cold mode

Fan is on medium heat for about 20 mins, and then shows H2 error code flashing, then blows cold air at full temp. I'm guessing it's an overheating error. Also, the hot air only blows out one side of the tower, cold air out the other side.

There was a lot of dust around the base of the tower in all the little holes which I vacuumed out, but the problem persists.

Guessing one of the fan heaters has burnt out? About to try taking it apart, but wanting some guidance first!

I have a Dyson am09 that has stopped turning on with both the power button and the remote. The remote is working and I am getting power through to the board. On further inspection there is a rattle coming from the black component rbs310910 in the image. I'm presuming this is the issue but could be completely wrong. Anyone got some advice? I'm unable to find the board with components online

Vax AP01: Not turning on and can't see anything obvious wrong

After about a year in a cupboard, the Vax AP01 won't switch on. Opening it up, there's nothing obviously wrong on the board, power is going to it and, from it to the fan, and I'm not sure what to try next?

Hi , I have a blueair sense +air purifier which should operate by waving your hand over the top , I got it apart and removed the board with the sensor on , it all seems fine and operates fine up to a distance of 6 - 7 inches away but when it goes back behind the glass it does not work , any ideas anyone , here is a photo of the sensor , seem like 2 led's and a sensor , not quite sure how it works .

Air Purifier: NOMA True HEPA air purifier won't turn on.

Occasionally when I plug it in it beeps, lights up for a fraction of a second and then goes off. Afterwards it only beeps when I touch the start button again. Other times it works perfectly OK. I’ve cleaned the filter and the air quality sensor. No improvement.

After using this device throughly for a few years, the motor sounds like it’s on the way out. The motor seems easily user-replaceable, I managed to take the motor out with only a T8 bit. I can’t seem to find any third-party brushless DC motors that are even close to the one in the device.
