AirPort Time Capsule Model A1409: Power Supply Failing? Or is TC Overheating?

Just recently, my Time Capsule has been occasionally shutting off without warning. It's happened several times so far this past month and a half, and I think it is from overload? To elaborate for the last failure, I was simultaneously transferring a large file from the TC's HDD to a MBP, downloading a 1GB update for a program on another MBP, and streaming a YouTube video on a Windows desktop.

It abruptly cut off everything I was doing, and there is no LED on the front while plugged in. However, while plugged in, I can hear and feel the hard drive still spinning. The TC is somewhat warm to the touch (seems to be the usual temp), but it's not scorching hot.

If I give it 5-15 minutes of leaving it unplugged and then plug it back in, it mysteriously starts working again, LEDs and all. When it turns off again, nobody knows, but it sure will be at the most inconvenient time.

My TC is sitting in a TV entertainment center, on the first shelf below the TV but there is plenty of empty ventilating room around it.

So what's going on here? Am I going to need to replace the power supply? Or is it just overheating from too much activity and it wants to cool down for a bit? I don't know what to make of these symptoms...

4th generation Time Capsule (2TB)

Hard drive is not dead

Plugged into power surge protector (or power strip...?)

Using original power cable.

Bought used on eBay a few months ago, likely been in service for more than 12 months

AirPort Time Capsule Model A1409: Time Capsule A1409 Doesn't Recognise WD 18TB Elements HDD

I've recently bought a WD 18TB Elements HDD and tried to connect it to the USB port on the rear of my A1409 Time Capsule. I've usually got an unpowered hub connected to the TC with three WD Elements HDDs attached (5TB, 6TB and 12TB) and they all run at once without issue.

I've formatted the new 18TB as Mac OS Extended (Journaled) GUID using Disk Utility; it appears to be setup the same as the other three WD drives. It works fine when plugged into my MB Pro.

When I plug it into the TC it spins up, then the TC light goes orange and it drops off the network (ie it's no longer available for my MB Pro to connect). When I unplug the WD 18TB drive, the light turns green again and the TC reappears as available.

I notice other threads advise the USB ports on these aren't all that reliable and a powered hub might resolve the issue. I'm willing to try that route, but unsure since the 12TB works OK when plugged in, and in fact the USB port will support a combined 23TB through the unpowered hub, so I don't know if this is the problem.

Hopefully wiser heads will have a solution. Thanks!

AirPort Time Capsule Model A1409: How I can have the HDD out and put it in the standard HDD case?

My Time Capsule has out of order “reset” and always fails to “air-connect” and so I would like to have the inner HDD to an ordinary HDD case and have it online by Ethernet or the USB and save the photo files in it.

Sadly Apple threw out the repair and fix support for these models due to “vintage” products and out of parts but they are breaking the law in my country of Japan. They have the obligation to keep those parts for longer than they thought.

Now they are in big trouble but I don’t care much for that and I’d like to have my files back from the Time Capsule in the least safe way possible.

Many told me that it is possible by giving up the “Air” function and use it as a regular HDD. But there is no website telling how to do that. Please advise and help.
