My phone is hung up properly. I can make outgoing calls but cannot receive incoming. The caller receives a busy signal when calling.

ATT CL4940: Can't Tilt Screen, feels like it will break if I do.

I tried to tilt the screen, but it resists strongly. I fear breaking this fine phone. I pulled it up about as far as I could without breaking something and stuck a piece of wood to hold it there, but that is an unsatisfactory answer. Is there some trick to it?

ATT CL4940: My phone won't ring on incoming calls

ATT CL4940: will not hang up

The line disconnect micro switch checks ok but the phone will not hang up from the land line, it does however show normal display responses to the hang up switch. It will just not disconnect from the land line.

When I replace the handset in the cradle the conversation will not disconnect. If I disconnect the landline from the phone the conversation will disconnect. If I reconnect the landline with the phone hung up I can hear a dial tone and then after a while a continually busy signal . Calling my landline with the cl4949 connected produces a busy signal . Is there a switching transistor in the circuit of the 4940 that is leaking?

I can use the phone as long as I physically remove the landline to hang up. The landline must remain disconnected or the line will lock up and no other phone in my home will work. With the 4940 disconnect from the landline all my other phones work ok.

Speaker button checks Ok with an ohmmeter. This problem with the line control started after an electrical storm. Does anyone have an electrical diagram?

ATT CL2940: landline phone ringer not working.

The landline phone instrument is working fine supporting outgoing calls but the phone isn't ringing during incoming call, the phone loudspeaker is also working fine.

ATT Landline Phone: I can't delete the old greeting for my store

I have recently purchased a store with this phone system. I have recorded a new greeting for line 1 and it is saved in the machine. However, when I call my store, it still plays the OLD greeting, which is not saved anywhere in my system. I can’t delete the old greeting. It’s like a ghost in the machine? So bizarre.

ATT CL4940: Why does the phone ring when I cough?

If I’m not using the phone, and a loud noise occurs in the room. A sneeze, cough or other loud noise. The phone starts ringing until I pick up the handset and hang it up. Why?

Greetings all.

My first question here.

my user has two headsets, line 1 and line 2 on a landline.

If someone picks up line 1 on a call coming in, puts the caller on hold and either picks up line 2 or asks someone else to pick line 2, the pick that picks up line 2 hears a dial tone.

Same thing happens if the user picks up line2, puts it on hold and picks up on line 1, the user hears dial tone. The caller who is put on hold hears nothing.

Does anyone have any idea how to resolve this problem?

I have tried powering off the phones for a few seconds, powering back on. It doesn't solve the problem.

I have tried switching lines but problem persists.

Any suggestions is greatly appreciated.

ATT Landline Phone: When my mom calls me, I can’t hear her, why?

When my Mom calls me from her landline to my iPhone, I hear the ring, but can’t hear her (and she can’t hear me) when I answer her call. This only happens when calling my iPhone, not my Google Voice number that I answer the same device.

Also what’s weird, if she first calls me on the Google Voice number, or, calls my husband’s iPhone number first (no problems calling him) - she can then call me on my cell and her call comes through just fine. I don't know how long it would take to stop working again, certainly by the following day.

She used to be on our AT&T phone plan, but we removed her when she wanted to start paying for her own phone service independently of ours, for what it’s worth.

This is really maddening, because if there was an emergency, she would have difficulty reaching me. Our method now is: she calls me, I hang up on her (since i can’t hear her), then I call her back (she can always hear me). Again, this issue only happens with my cell # - never with anyone else she calls.

I’m the person she calls most! So frustrated!!! Help!!

This problem has occurred on my previous iPhone, and continues on the iPhone 10.

My husband has the same Google Voice number (rings both our phones simultaneously), yet my mom has no issue getting through to him on either the Google Voice # or his cell #.

Weird, right? I’ll visit the AT&T store. Tried calling AT&T and all they do is go through the motion of asking my mom to reboot her modem.

Point is - it only happens with me, and we can briefly “fix” it, by having her call either the Google Voice # or my husband’s Cell #.

Any other ideas?

With our CL4940 during an ongoing call, pressing Speaker and placing the handset in the base hangs up the calll, even though the instructions say this is what to do. Do you see the same issue? Or do you know of any workarounds?
