The over drive sign appears on the dash board, gears starts to misbehave taking too long to change with a loud sound of the engine. Also the changing of gears is accompanied by a sharp rise of the rave count which quickly falls down once the gear has changed.

1997-2001 Toyota Camry: Power Steering fluid leak. Moaning sound

A few weeks back my 97 Toyota Camry V6 3.0 Litre started to make a moaning sound which I attributed to low level of power steering fluid. Topping up the PS fluid reservoir stopped the sound and it was fine for about another 2 weeks and it started happening again. I topped it up again and it was fine for a week and then sound returned and the reservoir was empty. I am now having to top up the fluid daily. I assume there is a leak in the power steering hose or it needs to be replaced altogether. I would appreciate any help or guidance on how to resolve this problem.

1997-2001 Toyota Camry: From Cold Start, car has trouble holding idle until warm. Why?

After sitting overnight or a few days my 1999 Camry le 4 cylinder Automatic has trouble holding an idle. I have to hold the gas down for a while until the car warms up and then its fine. Is that the fix itself, is it worth fixing, what is causing this problem.

Not sure if related. Sometimes while stopped in traffic or at a red light, my speedometer will go crazy, hops up to 65mph when I'm completely stopped then dives all the way down to 0. Then when I do need to go its like something is wrong with the engine, kind of putters and doesn't have much power. Once I get moving its fine.

One time this happened on the freeway in traffic and as I stepped on the gas the car stalled and I had to restart it, it was fine after the restart but I was on the freaking freeway that could have been bad.

This only happens when I'm idling.

1997-2001 Toyota Camry: 2000 Camry dash mounted A/C-heater fan speeds 1&2 don't work, 3&4 do.

OK... past frustrated on this one...

A good number of years ago, the blower fan that pushes air into the passenger compartment (for A/C and heat) stopped working when the 4-way switch (off, 1, 2, 3, 4) stopped working.

Please, understand, I'm not an idiot when it comes to cars, electrical, electronics, etc. Just that I don't know what it is to look for here.

10 years ago... I started with the obvious... the fuse/relay block in the engine bay. While there are icons for "Fan 1", 2, and 3, I've surmised that these are for the radiator cooling fans.

With speeds 1 and 2 not working, while 3 and 4 still do, I have to think it's a relay/fuse type thing, but with there being 2 distinct "channels" involved. Problem is, I can't determine how to find those "channels".

From what I've read, there's a fan-speed-control RESISTOR, but when it goes out, it seems the fan speed should simply go to "high" (speed 4) and none of the others. I've still got speed 3 working.

So, "relay" is the conclusion.

Or... is it?

The !#^&@* about all this is that I simply like "speed 1", 2 if it's like I've just gotten in the car and need to cool down quickly. But I'm stuck on 3 right now, and it's more air movement than I like, as well as the noise.

Anyone have any thoughts... preferably from experience?

1997-2001 Toyota Camry: Why is my car overheating

I have a 1998 Toyota camary I replaced the radiator and the thermostat I’m currently working on the radiator fan,the fan works but the relay is the issue I got a new relay but it still doesn’t turn the fan on automatically. I manually got the fans to operate by taking one of the electrical connectors to see if the car would still overheat and it does. So I total I changed my radiator my thermostat and my Fans work. what could be another problem. I’m currently bleeding my radiator so I can put some new antifreeze in it to see if it would work

1997-2001 Toyota Camry: Where is the speed sensor located on my 01 Camry?

My cars speedometer and odometer have stopped working so I have had my car looked at by a handful of mechanics and they all say the same thing... You need a speed sensor. So I get the sensor it needs, no problem, go back to the same mechanics that told me what part I needed and they can't tell me where it's located, even after telling me it's easy to change? Nothing is easy to change if you can't find it. I've been trying to find it online somewhere but I can't find it for the life of me anywhere. I find diagrams of the sensor that has teeth (looks like a gear) on it but this one does not have them. The way the car is set up the transmission is directly under the motor so trying to find it has been difficult. If anyone has any insight on where I would find it so I can finally get it fixed would be very much appreciated
