1995-2002 Toyota 4Runner: Why are my rear tires locked all of a sudden?

I'm having the same problem if anyone can answer.. I have a bad wheel barring and the back all of a sudden locked up and you can hear the gears griding when you try and move it.. my mom's boyfriend said I need a new rear end.. is there anything else it could be where I didn't have to buy an entire rear end?

1995-2002 Toyota 4Runner: My remote for car alarm is going bad

I have a PYTHON auto alarm system. It arms/disarms the security BUT NOT REMOTE ENGINE START. When disarmed it unlocks the drivers door ,and I can then start the car.

Anyway, the remote is going bad even though I replaced the battery 2 days ago.

I looked on several ‘PYTHON” web sites and they want more for a remote replacement than it costs for an entirely new complete system $269 USD for the remote only. That’s crazy.

What if any, options do I have ?

Any suggestion gratefully received.

Thank you

1995-2002 Toyota 4Runner: Ignition by-pass 1996 Toyota 4 runner - RESOLVED

My 1996 Toyota 4 runner SR-5 (V6) automatic tranny, has an intermittent starting problem. I could spend a fortune to a auto electrician or I could do an ignition by-pass.

I have looked this up on google and I can many, many different answers.

The one which seems the simplest is to run a wire (4 gauge) from the positive stud of the starter solenoid to the positive stud of the battery with a MOMENTARY push button switch in between.

However, I’m not experienced with this kind of thing and I’m worried about further damaging the SUV.

Any advice gratefully appreciated . Particularly as to what MOMENTARY push button switch to buy. The starting system seems to draw 175 amps , so I’ll need a switch that can handle this large amperage

Any advice gratefully appreciated.

Thank you

Hello all, I discovered the problem, quite by accident. The 4 runner which I just bought had the alarm system set up to shut off the ignition system. I had been accidentally, pushing the wrong button on the alarm fob. PROBLEM SOLVED ! Big relief.

1995-2002 Toyota 4Runner: Soft brakes when engine is running

As the title says, I am dealing with soft brakes while the engine is running on my 2000 Toyota 4runner. Prior to this my master cylinder went out. So I have replaced the master cylinder, brake booster, rear wheel cylinders. I have bleed everything properly, I have no air in my lines nor leaks, i do have vacuum on the booster. I have also bleed them several times for countless hours. I also took off the master cylinder and rebleed it thinking there was trapped air, and still nothing. Any ideas out there?

1995-2002 Toyota 4Runner: car charger lights but doesn't charge in my toyota

I have an Anker car charger and it works fine in one vehicle but when I transferred it into my "new" 97 Toyota 4Runner the light on the charger comes on (but more dimly than in my other vehicle) but does not charge my phone. The phone charges fine on other chargers. So it is not the phone, not the cable and not the car charger. there is (at least some) power to the outlet since the charger light comes on. Any suggestions?
